This tool was designed for those who is setting up some software to work with [b]WinLIRC[/b] (http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/) server.

The most common examples of such software are media players like "Media Player Classic", "AIMP", "Winamp", etc.

This tool can introduce itself either as client (like player) or as server (like LIRC server itself). There is also available a special proxy mode where the client and the server work together. This mode can be used to transfer LIRC command via LAN or internet for clients that have no host / port setting.

In [b]Client Mode[/b] the Remote Control Emulator visually shows buttons pressed on your remote to know what control codes exactly are transmitted by LIRC server to its clients.

In other hand in [b]Server Mode[/b] it emulates remote, and sends codes to all connected clients like real LIRC server. This mode allows setting up any client software even without a real remote control device.

The most powerful mode is [b]Proxy Mode[/b]. It is a mix of both previous modes to allow Remote Control Emulator to be a client and a server in the same time. In proxy mode program transfers pressed on screen buttons of virtual device to all connected clients, and in addition transfers to them all codes that come from another server to which Remote Control Emulator is connected thru its client endpoint.
