In the country
My brother lives in the country. He works on the farm as a tractor driver. The farm is situated in Kemerovo region. It is a rather rich mixed farm; it has large areas under field crops and grasses as well as some cattle breeding enterprises. Many agricultural processes are mechanized, and farm machinery is used both for crop cultivation and for livestock breeding. Farmers work many hours in the fields and they get good yields of wheat, rye, oats, barley, corn, millet, buckwheat, cabbage, beet, carrot, beans, peas, lettuce, onion, radish and other crops.
I like to visit my brother’s family. They have a house and a vegetable garden. In his vegetable garden my brother plants a lot of vegetables. He plants cabbages, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, radishes, carrots, lettuce, beets and other vegetables. They don’t grow potatoes in the garden; they grow them in the field.
In spring my brother digs the ground with a spade and loosens it with a rake. I like to help him in the vegetable garden. I like to plant vegetables and water them. I don´t like to weed the vegetable garden. It is not easy work. My brother weeds the vegetable garden with a hoe. In summer I like to gather cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage; I do not gather lettuce and radish. My brother gathers lettuce and radish in early summer. He gathers high yields of vegetables.
Now I am in the vegetable garden. It is summer. The sun is shining brightly. The air is fresh. The day is warm. I see many red ripe tomatoes, large cabbage and green cucumbers. I am going to pick some tomatoes and cucumbers for dinner. I like fresh vegetable salad.

My Family

I am Alex Sidorow. I am 17. I was born on May, 5, 1977 in the village Krasnaya Kemerovo region. I finished school years year ago. I did well at school and learnt with great interest. After finishing school I began to work on the farm as a tractor driver. Very soon I decided to combine work and studies and entered the Kemerovo State Agricultural Institute. Now I am a first-year student at the Faculty of Agrarian Technologies. I am going to become an agronomist.
I am married. My wife is a teacher of music. We have a child, a daughter. She is only two years old. She is so funny and I spend a lot of time with her.
We live in the village, in my parents’ house. My farther died some years ago. My mother lives with us. She looks after the house and the family.
We have a small farm. We keep a cow, some pigs, hens and ducks. Near the house there is a vegetable garden. We plant potatoes, cabbages, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, radishes, carrots, lettuce, beets and other vegetables. My women like flowers very much. There are a lot of them everywhere: in the house and near it, as well as in the garden.
The life in the village is not easy. There is a lot of work from morning till night. But my wife and I always find time for leisure. We both like music and English. I go in for sports. I play football for the local team.
