A well-known Automobile Plant.
Tolyatti automobile plant is known to have been founded for producing cars in the quantities necessary to meet customers requirements. It was based on the technology worked out in Italy. Italian specialists came to Russia to help the workers to cope with new technology and new materials delivered to Russia from Italy.
In fact Tolyatti automobile plant has become the first joint venture in Russia.
Nowadays there are not as many specialists from Italy as it had been at the start, though some of them invited by the plant authorities are still keeping an eye on the process of car assembling.
When constructed the plant began producing 250 cars a day. They immediately became very popular with the drivers. Everything was new: the body of the car painted in blue, black, grey and burgundy colors, the wheel construction, the soft and very comfortable seats, much more powerful engine and the possibilities to develop much greater speeds. All this made the car competitive at the automobile market.
Nowadays this automobile corporation survives hard times because the market has greatly expanded, and the cars produced by famous German, French and American companies and sold at reasonable prices ousted Tolyatti automobiles from the car market.
«Lada» (such is the last name of former «Zhiguli») is sold at high price, for as they explain, the materials and assembly components are bought abroad which influences the cost.
Still many people prefer buying this type of home-made car for it is said to be more suitable for our roads.
