Nowadays USA is world’s third-largest country by size (after Russia and Canada) and by population (after China and India). The total territory of the USA is 9,630,000 sq km. «MY COLLEGE»
Now let me tell you about my Polytechnical College. I am really glad that I study here. It is one of the finest Norilsk educational institutions. Many famous Norilsk people have graduated from my college, and not only engineers or scientists. Studying at our college gives a solid background in many spheres of knowledge and prepares for practical work.
Our college is quite large and rather old. It was founded in 1944. First, it was a small department of our local Industrial Institute, but later it was rearranged into an independent institution. Nowadays it is a large school where more than 1000 students are currently enrolled. About 800 are full-time students, like me, and the rest are part time-students.
The course of study at my college lasts 3-4 years. There are many departments in it. Here are some of them: the faculty of industrial automation and robotics, the faculty of economics, the faculty of machine tools and the faculty of metalworking and others.
We have some workshops and laboratory classes which are equipped with up-to-date equipment and there students can carry on lab works and conduct various experiments. Many students from my group do their own research work.
Our classes begin at 9 o’clock in the morning. Every day we have some lectures and practical hours. At the end of each term the undergraduate students pass their examinations. There are many high skilled and intelligent teaching instructors (TI) in our college.
During the school year the students work hard and in June they usually have their holidays. We have not only obligatory subjects but optional ones as well. ´
The college has a good library where one can find all necessary literature and fiction required.
I do well and I like my college. I have made a lot of friends here. Sometimes we chat with each other during the brakes.
