The Karabiner 98 Kurz (often abbreviated Kar98k, K98, or K98k) was a bolt-action rifle adopted as the standard infantry rifle in 1935 by the German Wehrmacht and was one of the final developments in the long line of Mauser military rifles. Seeing extensive use in WWII, it opposed the American M1 Garand and British SMLE. As a bolt action weapon it was out shot by the auto-loading M1 Garand but its larger more powerful 7.92x57mm IS cartridge made it highly accurate and very powerful.

This is a spring bolt action weapon; BBs are loaded one into each of the 5 metallic shells. The bolt is pulled to the rear and the shells are loaded into the internal magazine from the top. Pushing the bolt forward can be a tad stiff as this action cocks the spring. Upon firing the pellet, racking the bolt will eject the spent case and the cycle starts over.

There are certainly a variety of high quality Kar98K replicas in the Airsoft market and this is defiantly not at the top of the list but it looks the part and it does load shells and shoot BBs (spring powered, 265fps). While it may not be premium, it is not bad; furthermore, for that price, it is actually affordable for most gamers unlike the top tier Kar98Ks.

For WWII themed games, civilian rebels in other themed games, filming, theatrical or stage use; even simple costuming for events. The wood furniture is not bad at all, indeed this rifle does well as a good looking prop (albeit an unusually clean, well maintained one for a war time rifle). The wood is real and while it may be a tad on the light side for this rifle at least you do not have to worry about scuffing it as much as you would a really expensive one.
